Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful reflection. Indeed, Thanksgiving is not just about the menu but about practicing radical empathy and accepting things as they are. I hope your Thanksgiving was filled with moments of peace and comfort, too.

We've had decades of unhappy, obligatory Thanksgivings. A few years ago, we decided to be kinder to ourselves. Two years we spent Thanksgiving soaking in the hot springs up in Harrison, B.C., two we spent with those who had nowhere else to go. Each was beautiful, each life-giving. Thanksgiving with some families can be great and we could have that too with much travel, but if we're staying home, we get to choose something happier. For THAT, I'm thankful!
