Looking towards Thanksgiving
🍁 Finding quiet before the year-end frenzy
The leaves continue to fall. That is why this season is called fall you know.
Last weekend, we raked the leaves in our yard until we had no more room in the yard debris bin. By the next morning, it didn’t look like we had done anything. A fresh crop had arrived.
Such is the give and take of nature and human this time of year. You tidy your yard up and pause to admire your handiwork — and the wind and the trees laugh at your hubris.
Better to trade hubris for humility and appreciate the beauty of God’s work.
I love fall. The change in seasons. The vibrant colors. The crisp air. The early morning fog. The sunny afternoons.
Apple crisp. Mulled cider.
The anticipation of what’s to come.
This is a special week. The calm before the storm. Soon, the holiday season will be upon us. Lovely, yes, but also stressful and overwhelming at times. If you are feeling like it might be that way for you this year, you might appreciate something that fellow Substacker
