I won’t lie: this weather is really getting to me. It’s dark when I get up. It’s dark when I stop working. The rain is incessant. I know it’s not forever but I’m ready for a break.

I love light.

As a photographer, the golden hour is my favorite time of the day.

When I am out in the world, I notice lighting. I can’t not notice it. It’s always been that way. I cringe when the color temperature clashes (like when someone mixes warm white incandescent Christmas lights with cool blue white LED lights). And I revel in (well designed) ambiance where the actual lighting is invisible and the feeling is what you notice.

I started upgrading the lighting in the kitchen a few years ago. In the transition from incandescent to LED bulbs, I realized I was going have 2x the lumens once I replaced all of the bulbs so I decided to install some dimmers. After all, I wanted a kitchen not an operating room.

This morning
I shot six holes in my freezer
I think I got cabin fever

Cabin fever. In this world of hybrid work, remote work, WFH, it can be a real thing. Layer in the weather outside and and I start to look longingly at my calendar and dreaming of someplace warm.

I sometimes find myself singing these lyrics. I love to travel and Saint Somewhere is a nice stand in for somewhere sunny 🌴.
