The rain is really coming down today. There is much to do — and yet I just want to curl up in a comfortable chair under a warm wool blanket with a cup of hot tea. Do you ever have days like that?
Each week when I sit down to write, I usually review the list of ideas for posts I’ve accumulated in Trello and something jumps out. Other times I sit down already with a sense of what I want to share with you. Today is the first time in a long while, perhaps ever since I started writing
sixty-five issues ago, that this hasn’t happened. That’s not entirely accurate. To be more precise, I’ve started writing on nine different topics already this morning. And I could just pick one and power through and get it out. Check it off the list. Move on.
But I can feel that my heart isn’t in it right now. It wouldn’t be my best work and I respect your time.
And, I actually think there may be a lesson in here.
Leaning into what has our attention enables us to do our best work.
Paying attention to our energy level and choosing activities in alignment with that enables us to “bring our all” every time.
Rather than feeling like a failure, we can experience the affirming feeling that comes with honoring our attention and energy in each moment.
This is my wish for you today and every day.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Be well,
-Bryce
Exactly!!! Best to consider it a writing exercise until we really feel it... and, no matter what, always with the tea 🇬🇧 ☕️
It's refreshing to hear your honesty about the creative process and how sometimes, despite our best intentions, the words just don't flow as we hope. I too have days where I feel pulled in multiple directions yet lack the focus to tackle any one task with enthusiasm.
