Have you ever made an eight minute phone call? If not, you totally should. Last week, The New York Times had an article about the secret power of the eight-minute phone call. I scheduled my first one for today. It was awesome.
It was so nice to hear my friend’s voice again. To catch up. To share. To connect. To hear and feel heard.
Friendship is such a gift.
We wound up talking for more than eight minutes and also agreed to talk again next week. A new ritual perhaps.

Someone else I know started a weekly Zoom call at the beginning of the pandemic with a few college friends across the country. Same time every week. They grew closer and reconnected in a way they hadn’t in years.

Every friendship is unique. And the rituals and rhythms of life may be different for each of us. Experiment to find what’s right for you.
But trust me on this: reaching out is totally worth it.
